Support of the Law School
Over the past 15 years, the Foundation has provided over $107 million of financial support to the Law School. This fiscal year we are anticipating providing over $9 million additionally. The Foundation has consistently provided between 17% and 20% of the total operating budget of the Law School.
The endowment benefiting the Law School has grown considerably over the past 15 years. This endowment includes both the funds held by the Foundation and those held by the Johns Charles Townes Foundation.
Restricted Support - Designated by Donor
The Foundation receives funds for which the purpose is designated by the donor. These come in the form of both endowments and special purpose funds, also known as temporarily restricted funds. The expenditures from these funds were spent in the following categories in the last fiscal year.
Unrestricted Support - Designated by Board
Each year, the Foundation gifts some of its unrestricted funds to the Law School. A budget for these items is prepared prior to each financial year by the Budget Committee of the Board of Trustees in conjunction with Law School personnel, taking into consideration the Dean's priorities. These funds were spent in the following categories last fiscal year.
